We have had a GC680 on order since June 1st this year and after having a date of week 35 for the build went very quiet from the dealer not getting updates from the factory.

Yesterday we had an update that the factory were having delays on the GC’s and hope to commence builds on Week 44 following some updates within the factory and also issues with WLTP standards. The builds will continue with revised software.

Do you think this is now going to mean we get the 160hp engine not the 177hp we ordered?

Could it also mean the updated interior? We have no other info as yet but hoping to in the next few weeks.

Has anyone else had this message?

It is looking likely that this could be the new facelifted model. Normally there is a shutdown period (end of August iirc) and during this period the production line is changed/updated for the new MY. The UK configurator has been off for a few weeeks now.

On this subject I've heard the next Sven will be based on the facelift, I just don't understand why 160hp is a step forward. I certainly wouldn't want anything less than my 177hp as it it's a big weight to lug. I'm wondering whether VW/MAN are holding back a more powerful engine over 200hp under wraps?

Doubt you’d notice the difference.

Does anyone know what the torque is for the new 160hp engine is, as it's that what matters more than power on large/heavy vehicles? 177hp engine is 410Nm, but I've not seen a figure for the updated engine. If the torque has been increased, then you may be better off. Don't know manufacturers always seem to quote power figures.

I read a post about the the 163 hp engine vs the 177 hp engine. It suggested that the two engines have the same maximum torque, (410Nm) but the maximum torque rpm range is larger for the 163 engine.

Basically the same as the VW Crafter / MAN TGE Next.
Hopefully this helps, or gives some idea.

I am waiting on my replacement Knaus (too many issues from new) and its going to be on the New MAN TGE Next van 2025 model. Apparently target is for end of Dec / Jan, so expecting it to be one of the first ones in the UK. I am meeting the UK director at the NEC show next week so will be quizzing him on all of this.

The Base MAN TGE has been available to order since April this year and they are starting to ship these now to the manufacturers - for example the only one i have see so far that is in the flesh with the new interior is the Eriba Car (Hymer). They showed 3 new vans at the Dusseldorf show - a split colour blue , grey and red. On one of the videos, i saw that the Blue one has the new base. I am hoping that it will be there at the NEC show. So will be getting a feel for it.

Update from the dealer. Provisional build date of week 7 and nothing more. Not saying if the engine spec has changed or update in the cab area is expected. Being this close to week 7 would you expected more info from vw? We have nothing from the dealer.

I feel for you. Frustrating when you “just don’t know” when you might get your GC.
Production was supposed to start last week, but not sure it has.
The engine will definitely be the new output with updated dash etc.
Hope you get a firm bit of info soon.
Also keep an eye out for solar panel issues, not sure if you originally added one but there are some issues with the supplier not having the appropriate certs or approvals or something, which means you may not get a factory spec panel fitted.

We opted to not have the factory solar so that’s good. We did get told last year factory was meant to start back up week 44. But we didn’t hear anything from vw on why we didn’t hear something sooner with a build week.

Also have ferry crossings booked for Isle of Man tt in May/June so fingers crossed

Hi I am in the same position. I have been told that the new GC680 build commenced on the 13th Jan, after changes to the production line, my vehicle is 'high in the order list'. It was due to be delivered in Feb but it looks like it may now be later but VW are unable to give a delivery or even a guestimate on delivery date. They have confirmed that it will be the 2025 model with a change to dashboard and engine.

Hi, when did you place your order if you don’t mind me asking? We seem to be left in the dark with any info from the dealer. We ordered on 1st June 2024 and was told week 36 2024 was our build date. Obviously that slipped

UPDATE
With Build Week being next week we had an email today telling us items that have changed or unavailable.

Our build is now a MY25

as standard on that is the toilet ventilation and the drivers pack 9X0.

Unavailable is the solar panel for both a 600 and 680 at this time.

and pushed until later in 2025 is the cabinet ambient lighting.

Both the solar and ambient lighting we didn’t not have on our order so no problem there.

Would we expect any further updates from VW during the build process do you think?

We ordered in June as well but they’ve given us week 14 as a build date and unfortunately we did want solar!!

Any reason you didn’t choose solar as an option, think you may possibly regret it long term.
The plan was to get a custom roof rack install and make the most of the area up there for solar with a few perimeter lights and camera.

I did see on the config you can now opt for rear view camera always on. But we has already got a wolf box pro waiting to go on.

For the first few months we may just be on EcoFlow and the 800w generator charger.

We opted for the diesel heater aswell.

Was going to order laser lights for in the grill but vw can’t confirm if the grill is the same. It does look like it may be chrome though which I don’t want.

All questions to ask the dealer I guess

Are you waiting for solar to be approved? I seen no date for that, just unavailable. Did you get told a date of availability?

I placed my order in August with an estimated delivery date of Feb. I was told shortly after ordering that it would be the 2025 version, and then on January that the Feb date would not be achieved. I am still waiting an update, but I am now concerned this will be pushed back even further due to the solar panels not been available. I have not received an update from VW on this only what I have read on this forum.

Hope good news comes soon.

This is our first campervan so don’t really know the process when it came to build date information. We only went off previous car orders which have been informative and regular, this process has been an eye opener

New update from VW, build of my GC 680 to commence late March 25, with an estimated delivery date of May 24

Exciting!
Jamie from Breeze has said the order book may open March 6th for new orders, big maybe perhaps, but progress. Good news for those that have had orders stuck in the overlap of models at last.

and will this include your solar panels?

We are so excited for ours.
They tell me that there are 'no production restrictions ' in place in relation to the Solar Panels.

And yes v excited for ours also, I started to research different Campervan s and Motorhomes just in case that the build was delayed for a further 6 months and I kept coming back to the VW GC as being my preferred spec.

Fingers crossed it will arrive in the Spring
