Hi all, I’ve had my California Westfalia 2002 for over a year now, got to know most things however on the inside of the pop top there are 5 round plastic shaped studs, with upside down T shaped slots in them as if you can put something in them. Two either side one in the centre. Anyone know what these are for?

likely mounts for a net (to stop kids/things falling from the bed)...
I feel sure I've seen these before for that purpose, though google image search I can't find examples.

Certainly an aftermarket item. Are there any unusual fixings on the front edge of the roof bed? Inclined to agree with @bxl_lxd but haven’t seen one using these fixings before.

Thanks guys, when the pop top is up I can’t see anything like a net wondering if they could be where you can attach a thermal screen???

I guess the net (thermal screen or what-ever they're for) was not passed on when you bought the vehicle...

I'm sure there will be someone out there who can identify the use, I have seen these before (though can't remember where, could have been when we were scouting for a Cali to buy), so they're not unique...

Are they bolted all the way through the roof (so are visible from the outside)?

I have the net (but no bin lids that need restraints). I can post a pic with it installed.

TBH every time I put the roof up I think I should remove it.

While I’m on the subject of discovering my Westy, I’d like to meet up with other California owners but can’t make the meets this year as I work most Saturdays. I’m based in Bristol and wonders if people meet up in Bristol?

Hi, I’ve looked at the fixing and they are held by a Philips screw, not sure if this goes all the way through to the roof there are 17 studs on the pop top I don’t know what they are there for

Hi Sidepod, that would be helpful if you could post a pic? Thanks
