Greetings all,

So - California SE 180 DSG 'Woody' all loaded up and ready for our first adventure to the New Forest area for Valentines. The 3 dogs are ecstatic although we are not sure where exactly they will end up sitting - will it be on the floor or lined up on the bench seat seeing where they are going?!

Had a lovely time using the downloaded documents and comments on the forum - thank you. One questions is ... do may people secretly wild camp in the UK? We are biting the bullet and getting the Brit stop book hoping we get lucky for stops en-route to our holiday destinations or quick nights away.

Looking forward to our adventures and hopefully meeting lots of you fellow Cali owners too!

Hurrah :)

I'm with you on the wild camping. This years book out shortly for Brit stops and something we are looking forward to trying. We will make plans but our biggest plan is not to have a plan.

Good luck with your trip to the New Forest.

We occasionally wild camp in the UK, usually when we are enroute to somewhere or other. We have discovered that it works best for us to stop very late at night and leave very early in the morning before too many bods are up and about. If we know that we will be wild camping we will usually make up the bed and draw the blinds before we leave and we will normally sleep in our clothes just in case we get moved on. The main trouble is finding somewhere remote and quiet enough with hard standing where you aren't blocking someones gateway. We have not experienced any problems yet.

Welcome and Good Luck. Regarding Brit Stops, I had it last year and have to say we struggled to find any places of a decent standard, hence we cancelled our subscription this year. We actually found better places at no cost using Facebook Groups. Its worth finding your overnight stop a little early and checking out if you feel comfortable there and leave yourself a bit of daylight to find another if not!
