Yesterday my hubby Dave and I made the dangerous trek over the Pennines into unknown territory for Yorkshire people to that there Liverpool. Where we persuaded to part with some money for a beautiful California Ocean.
This is our dream coming true. Retiring end of next week to start our adventure.
So before we start the intrepid journey I want to ask things.

1. Mattress toppers which is best?
2. Porta loos again best for all activities it can be used for?
3. Top 10 essential items to take on our first overnight trip?

All reply's will be eagerly received.

Welcome. Congratulations on your retirement, Buying a Cali, what a great way to start.

1. You don't need a mattress topper. I find VW mattress just fine.
2. Popaloo. Packs small. No chemicals
3. Cadac safari chef and some beers.

:welcometo the club, and congrats on your new purchase and imminent retirement.

We have the VW comfort mattress, but also bought a Dorma memory foam topper from Dunelm, cut it down slightly to fit the lower bed. Provides additional cushioning and works a treat.

We have the Porta Potti 335, which fits easily in the rear of the van.

Some items you might consider:
Electric hookup cable (if going to a campsite, and to charge leisure batteries at home)
USB charging cables for your stuff
Gas Bottle
Ridgemonkey
Bungee cord for the bellows (not really necessary on the 6.1 due to thicker material, but we put one on as a safeguard)
Torches / Lanterns
A good wine to celebrate
