Help! reliable non franchised VW specialist in North Staffs (leek area)

Hi, Anyone got a recommendation for a decent non Main dealer garage? Just got back from a trip last night which ended with calling VW Assist. Seems Foxes have chewed through the ABS fibre optic cables in the front wheel arches. This was diagnosed by VW assist and data and report sent to VWCV at Derby. They want £129+VAT to confirm the diagnosis made by their own engineer before doing anything else. It is fairly obvious from just looking what has happened because you can clearly see both ends of both sets of cables, neatly severed in the middle!
Bearing in mind the cost to 'confirm the diagnosis' it sounds as if the final bill will be whatever they think they can get away with!
