Hi All,

bought a T5 Cali 2 weeks before lockdown. Had it put on Bilsteins the day of lockdown and it’s been in the drive since - and the battery ran out and I now have a 4000 error in the diagnose menu...which makes the waste tank look full but flashing, so erroring, also main water tank which is empty says half full - so thinking it’s the fuse for the sensors.

anyone had anything similar?

any advice much appreciated.

looking to have a facelift once life resumes!

cheers

Welcome to the club we have only had ours a few months so know how you feel.

Have you tried to resetting the panel by turning it off completely with I/O button so that it reboots

For those of you who don't know, if you ever get any problems with roof stuck or any other error say with the heater or fridge, you are able to access the hidden menu in your control panel as used by the VW Engineers.

Access as follows:

1. Hold down the centre of the rotary button together with the menu button (button below with the squares on it)

2. You will get the hidden menu.

3. Rotate the rotary button to get to "VW diagnose" and select this by pressing on the centre of the rotary button.

4. If no errors are present it will display "no errors"

5. If Errors are present then a list of errors will appear

6. Press the centre of the rotary button again to delete all the errors

7. Repeat process above just to check that errors have dissapeared!

8. Re-configure the time and date if neccesary.

Any problems should be resolved assuming these are Electronic and not Mechanical.

Error Codes from Control Panel.

1 = 1 = Pop-up roof

2 = 2 = Plumbing Heating

3 = 3 = Cool box Cooler

4 = 4 = Sewage wastewater

5 = 5 = Fresh water

6 = 6 = Outside temperature

7 = 7 = Battery

Error Code Defect Fault

1010 1010 Short-circuit to (earth) roof

1001 1001 Fuse / short circuit to (plus+) roof

Hiya - thanks for the suggestion, yes i did try that and also tried clearing in the diagnose menu, but no joy.

thanks for that - i have followed your guidance on previous post for the roof very useful.

Do you know what the error 4000 4000 Short-circuit to ground water level sensor actually means?

many thanks

From T5.1 to 6?
I thought you meant T5 to 5.1 (more common change) but if you've a 180, it must be a T5.1

Unless you actually mean a face facelift! ;)

Sorry. I’m afraid I don’t. It’s one of VW’s cryptic codes.

A problem with either the water level sensor, or with the cables. Instead of a certain resistance, for measuring the level of water in the tank, it reads "0 ohm".
It might be a faulty water level sensor, or the signal cable shorted to mass?

a brilliant - thank you, it's in for a service on friday so hopefully can be resolved

it's a 2006 SE model which is a 5 but i though was 180, but still learning.

yep i did mean a facelift up to 6...so a face facelift i guess - lol

Ah, it's probably a 174hp. You had choices of 130 or 174 back in those days ;)
(I've a 2006 so can joke).

sorry for the delay in reply - so 75 k service all good, the chap servicing has a T3 and checked the sensors which he said were all good - but still flashing and the 4000 error in the diagnose menu. i've filled the fresh tank, ran the tap, (works well), then opened the waste tank valve with my wife watching the pipe and it dripped out (on a slight incline) - so seems all good functionally - i detached the sink drain hose and dipped the tank which only had a small amount at the bottom despite the display saying full and flashing - so i think it is still a waste tank sensor (float?) issue or an fuse fault - i may have misled the mechanic and he may have tested the fresh water tank, not the waste...so maybe will take to a main dealer.

oh well - at least the tap works!

in other good news - have bought the premium T5- T6 badged (why wouldn't you have a badge) face lift kit from Travelin-Lite and waiting on a date from a real super pro chap they recommended who i met with may Cali last week in Essex to do the work...his van and all the others he has done look amazing! so excited to have it done.

will report as work progresses
