How can I clean the rear bumper?

Sorry if this gonna be a stupid question, but i have no idea to fairly clean the surface to stick the chrome protection below.
my idea is to use here some alcool or any kind of polish. any suggestion?

If you ordered this to be installed after you bought your van. Then the best way is to normally clean the back end of the car, so tailgate and bumper. Open the tailgate up and wash underneath also. The properly dry with an microfiber cloth. The rest is normally in the packing for the extra cleaning like alcoholwhipes and sorts.
