I have just had 4 small rubber grommets that locate the hob support ring replaced.

Guess how much?

£6.30 each + VAT

I have looked on ebay, and I could have got them cheaper at £18.54 for the four.

Even so, this must be a rip off in any ones book?

You might want to book mark these for when you need to replace them.....

A tad overpriced i think.

Heres a 4 pack for 9€
Salt and wounds comes to mind.

There are similar ones on ebay, and camping kit suppliers, but they specifically state that they are not suitable for the Dometic (aka SMEV) MO9122 hob (aka VW California).

I do not know what the difference is, other than the ones that say they are compatible, state they are made from Teflon.

The old ones had split and caused the hob support ring to rattle. So we just wanted this sorted amongst a few other things.

Did you check the forum shop / Campervanbits ?
Think they have them also.

EDIT:
Unfortunately not. I had taken the van in for some servicing work and asked that the grommets be replaced.

To be fair, they did call to say that they were surprised by price and did I want to continue?

After looking on ebay, I agreed.

The club shop does look to be a better price, but then postage needs to be added.

Is done now. Shows that you need to look around.

Be careful when buying such parts. The material may quality/ chemical composition may vary considerably. The wrong type may be cheap but also be dangerous. Be careful with gas.

I suspect no-one has ever in the history of the world suffered any serious harm from using the 'wrong' kind of rubber grommets on their gas hob. That's in the real world, I mean.

You don't work for VAG Group by any chance, do you?.

Gasses can interact with rubber and plastics causing their physical properties to change.
Ask a chemical engineer.

VAG Group? Never heard of them but I’ll search for them. I don’t think they operate here.

(I saw VAG is Australian slang for vagrant)
Smiley face.

If gas is interacting with these particular bits of rubber, where you bought them from is going to be the least of your worries.

Shorcut for ViAGra

This is certainly not unusual for a part with about as much material as a flys pants can cost This much..But that’s the joys of owning a VW California....Almost think it’s worth buying a 3D printer and making parts myself..
