Finally we got there. one week in the Faroes and two and a half months in Iceland. The f roads lead into the interior of Iceland and really are a must if you want to see the best scenery and get away from the crowds on the ring road. There are many gravel roads which are not f roads, some are fine, some are not and can be just as demanding as the f roads. I lost count of the distance travelled on gravel but it is was lot, probably in the the region of 3000km at least. The van was suitably modified, we already had VB air suspension so we could raise and lower the ride height as necessary, alloy protection plates for the engine/gearbox, rear diff, fuel tank and exhaust system were a must together with a special raised air intake system and extended breathers for the gearbox and rear diff to prevent water getting into the oil on river crossings. I will keep posting photos and videos when I can get time time to sort everything out from the numerous cameras we took with us. Apologies for some of the video quality but bear in mind these roads can be very rough. the in van camera did a great job in stabilising the video but there are limits to what it can do. I hope you enjoy watching.
