Open the left door and look at the stickers , at least in the T5 they are there , worth looking.

Think the interieur heater is a Eberspacher.

Hi,

I want to fit the module that lets you control the parking heater from an iPhone app so I can switch it on from the top of mountain when skiing and about to head down (I don't know but I'm pretty sure the remote fob wouldn't have the necessary range).

Does anyone know if a T6 Ocean has the Webasto heater?

Thanks
What does the label say on the Drivers Door Pillar?

Unless VW have changed things for the T6 then the Parking Heater is made by Eberspacher.
There is a Webasto heater fitted but that is the Engine Coolant Heater. However, Eberspacher have something similar. Don't know if it will work with the T6 version and software.

@WelshGas , are the stickers in the driversdoor on a RHD ?
Thought they where on the left door...

You're probably right. It's hammering down outside and I'm sat by my coal fire with the cat on my lap. I'll check tomorrow but I think you are right .

I looked into this briefly but it wasn't that elegant a solution and quickly became crazily expensive for very little practical gain. Doesn't it require a SIM to be installed to the Cali? (Activates the heater by sending it an SMS) If so are you likely to get a signal where you need it? They may have updated the system but I'd think it still needs a phone signal to operate.

I try to remember to take the remote with me and it generally turns on the heater when we're far away enough from the car to have warmed it up by the time we get back!

You could just program the heater . Simple as that!

You can fit a remote to the webasto coolant heater too I believe, but that only works for 30 mins and works from the engine battery. You also lose the auto function of the heater working when its cold to help the engine get upto temp.

Weirdly plenty of folks have created their own GSM Homestart modules for Webasto and Eber. Worth a look if you are handy with electronics but you don't want to spend lots.

Sign of my age. Returned to my Cali yesterday and found the heater on. Scratched my head to no avail and now just remembered when I got it I set it to come on for half an hour a week. Doh!!

I thought I had done that with my Webasto but I realised after playing with it that with my model it sets a timer for a week only and disables it once it activates once.

Shame being able to put it on once a week would be good for keeping it running nicely.

Here is a link btw to making your own GSM start

I wrote Eberspächer a email … Lets see what they answer ;-)
