Just noticed this: https://www.volkswagen.co.nz/new-cars/kombi-70/ reminds me of my old T2 and would make a great basic camper without an elevating roof. Spec looks pretty good for less than £38k https://www.volkswagen.co.nz/media/497535/spec-opt-sheet-kombi-my18.pdf. I could easily make a pod for self containment and use it as a camper.

One for sale - not keen on colour combination. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/us...15.htm?rsqid=ce61e74fd9894c48888dc180d392134d

Silver and Blue would be my choice.

What do you think?

It's just a Caravelle (Multivan in NZ) which have been available for years.

You seem to get a lot in the standard package: DSG, 132kW engine, Climatronic, power latching, comfort dash, 18" wheels, fogs, MFD, rear camera, two tone paint etc. The package is NZ$60,000 less than they sell the California for in NZ so a big difference in price. Even though it's a Multivan they've badged it 'Bulli'.

Just thinking how much all that would cost to add to a Beach in UK.

Thats very interesting.

Before we purchased our Beach in the UK in 2016, we had actually wanted a Caravelle (Multivan). However after having priced up the Caravelle with a parking heater, bed extension, mattress etc etc there wasn't much difference in the price. It sounds like the VW pricing strategy might be quite different in NZ.

How well does this kind of vehicle sell in NZ? The reason I ask is that the Kombi 70 appears to be a special addition of the Multivan and in my experience manufacturers usually bring out specials to boost flagging sales or to get rid of stocks of surplus options prior to the arrival of a new model.

It looks very nice but I'm not sure that I could do without the elevating roof now. It's so nice to park up, pop the roof and create all that extra head room.

I agree about the colour scheme.

Best wishes
Paul
