Splice 5 volt adapter to the overhead “prong” led. Package it all up nicely, live life without concern and by happy knowing your Westy wont burn down, well at the very least not boil your batteries with a horrible bit of kit designed in the 70’s.
Btw, in no way is this an endorsement to purchase items from Bezos, just easier to share what i used from my local electronics shop.

Or simply clean/vacuum/blow-out-with-an-airline the existing unit on a regular basis.

Good mod though on the face of it.

Works great. If you want to charge the starting battery simply install charger ahead of the factory charging relay that is excited by the alternator. No need for 2 bank chargers

I just wanted the prings led and a new charger, 150 cdn dollars rather then the 600 euro for a Fraron that wont work here or ship to Canada.

So what you are saying is the green cable going into original charging unit needs 5V so indicate the prong on overhead display? I remember seeing somewhere 12v

Fraron is not any good for North America and I managed mine for 150 cdn, using a modern charger

I am not arguing with you over the charger. I went with Renogy one that has MPPT build into it combined with Victron AC-DC for when shore power is available. Having the prong symbol displayed is not a big deal but if I can have it why not? I liked your idea...I did some digging around and I have various P.S.U. on hand. . 12V 2.0amp, 5V 1.0 and so on. I was always curious what kind of voltage OG Philips charger produced for displaying the prongs. Could not test mine as it smoked me out of our Van in September. It sucked!
