I've just moved up to Wales, about 10 miles west of Oswestry, and my first service is due, plus I need a warranty repair on my rear cupboard door. I know there are threads about good and bad dealerships, but they tend to concentrate on the sales teams rather than the service depts and whether or not they have a Cali specialist technician on site (most don't, it seems). We used to live in Cambridgeshire, where in St Ives there was a good Cali specialist. I'm hoping someone here can recommend a good place to take my Cali where they can sort out my wardrobe door at the same time as doing the service, and it would be nice if it were done by a Cali bod rather than a bish bosh VW commercial service guy.

Anyone up this part of the world with a good tip?

Thanks!

We were very impressed by what was called South Hereford garages which is 68 miles South from you. The sales team were good and the service team were excellent. I think it's now called Vertu Volkswagen.
They had a specialist who was very good at the camping side of the vehicle which many of the other dealerships seem to lack. Quite a few positive reports on South Hereford Garages on here.

Thank you - I will give them a call tomorrow. That's really helpful :thumb

I’m near Llangollen, so not a million miles away from you. Take it to Liverpool, it won’t take you that long to get there. The service team are excellent and really know what they are doing with Calis.

That's good to hear. The reviews on here didn't look so good for Liverpool, so it's always good to hear that you have had a good experience!

Yes, I’ve had great service from them, both buying the Cali and the first service (I chose to have done at 12 months old). When mine went in (done while I waited) there were 3 or 4 others in the workshop being serviced. I wouldn’t take mine anywhere else.

I think there are, probably, dealers who are fine for the VW Transporter bit of the van because that is what they see all the time with the vans they sell.
Then there are fewer dealerships that are skilled on the living area of the Calis. Judging by reports on here most seem pretty happy with the servicing aspects of their dealers, it's when they come to fixing specialist bits like the roof, the fridge, etc that some seem to struggle.

Yes that's why I was concerned. The service I can have done anywhere without worrying, but when it comes to mechanics touching the insides of my beautiful Cali … well then I need a loving specialist!

I travel hundreds of miles (600 plus) to Liverpool for our servicing. They have been great so far and we have an established relationship. That does help.

We use Llandudno Junction and have been happy with their service.

Update: Interesting conversation when I booked the van into Hereford for service and sliding cupboard door repair under warranty. No problem booking the van in, and booking courtesy car (£20 charge, by the way). But when I said the rear sliding cupboard door was broken and I'd like it replaced under the warranty so could she ensure one was ordered in as it is not a stock item, she said they'd have to look at it when we took it in. I stressed that we were driving a long way for this service, that it was definitely broken and that I could send a photo if that helped, and she said no, they'd have to look at it when we took it in. Can you hear the sound of my head bashing against this brick wall? I asked for the service manager to phone me back.

We have never been charged for a courtesy car when our Cali is in for a warranty repair.

Infact in at the moment for several things ,service, roof, new tap & sliding door blind ( won’t stay down) . Love my warranty .They collected our Cali & left us a new transporter. No charge.

Suppose it depends on the VW dealer. Ours is Snows Plymouth.

Was feeling disgruntled, so I phoned up the next nearest VW centre at Llandudno, and got a much more positive reaction! Booked in with free courtesy car and they will order the part. Now that wasn't so difficult, VW, was it?!

Thats better service. Its not difficult VW.;)

Snows have accepted a photo of broken Sliding table in the past , ordered it . Phoned us when it arrived . Saved us a lot of time . So much easier.
