Hi All
This miserable cold and wet day has left me looking at holidays for Summer 2017.
Any inspiration on locations and campsites would be welcomed please.
My wife and I enjoy lakes and mountains with a bit of cycling and walking, however our teenage daughters like campsites with plenty going on and nearby towns/villages in which to go shopping. Trying to find somewhere with a bit of both where we haven't been before is proving difficult.
France is our usual no. 1 destination, but looking further afield at Switzerland and possibly Germany
HELP!
Thanks

Summer in Switzerland is a good place to be (Germany and Austria also good, but better weather the further south you go).

This is a good site in Switzerland - has a small pool on site, can walk to a small beach on the lake, and has easy access to the cable cars and train to get you into the mountains.

If you press on to Italy - we can recommend this one for the adults, but might be a bit too quiet for the kids. In the Mountains near Turin, has a small blow up type pool, has a brilliant resturant and not much else (there is a good zoo nearby where you can swim in a pool next to the penguins!):

If those are too far south, this one is pretty good in Austria, but we had average weather in Austria in the summer: http://www.camping-vitznau.ch/englisch/einrichtung-eng.php - no pool on site, but village has a nice pool. This site is famous in our family for having the cleanest shower block ever! Again probably a bit quiet for kids.

If you go back to France and you want something kid friendly we are currently in love with the Dordogne - this one is ace - http://www.saint-avit-loisirs.com it is a Eurocamp site so it quite commercial, but has really good onsite pool and facilities, but if you head out of the campsite some good bike rides and walks (although the Dordogne is hillier than I thought it would be)

Given you requirements Vitznau and St Avit would be the best I reckon :)

We have just abandoned camper vanning as teenage kids are getting a bit too big - but we will be back :)
