a small section is loose it will push back on but won't stay there.....before using extreme measures with glue is there a better way?
have searched as can't be first person to have this issue but can't find anything...over 3yrs so its DIY not dealership solution.

Had similar issue here, but on the table. Eventually used epoxy glue in the bottom of the u section, or the edge of the panel with the trim kept in place until epoxy set by a couple of very tight ratchet straps overnight. (Clean excess epoxy immediately)

You could also try some paper wedged in the channel which kept it in place, but only for a couple of weeks.

thanks glue it is then :)

I would personally recommend contact adhesive, apply to both surface let it dry before pressing together. Unlikely to ever come away.
