Travelling to Morzine in Feb taking the tunnel. We "land" in Calais at 18:25 and so was thinking of driving until 10pm or something and then finding a place to kip overnight. It's just me and my boy so don't need any frills. I've heard that there are places that allow you to sleep in your van overnight. Any hints, tips or recommendations would be welcome!

Lots of free aires in France , you will find them using various apps/sites like ACSI ect...
We use the one in Beaune a lot when heading south , inbetween Dijon and Lyon
Give away your route makes it aesyer to give tips.

Get off the motorway and find a nice small village with aire
Or keep driving until you hit Morzine. You will be there for 4am. Park in lift station car park. Get up at 10am and ski :thumb

Plenty of Aires as people say, you will need chains if your going up to Avoriaz.

We drive as far as Reims and stay in a hotel. There is an F1 where you can get a cheap room for the night plus plenty of places to get some dinner. If you want to get further south you could push on to Troyes.
