Hi all. Does £59K for an 18 month old Ocean in part ex for a new one August delivery sound like a good deal. 50% deposit and interest free over 5 years is part of the deal being offered. We may miss the boat as it’s closing this weekend but may still be available on Tuesday.

All depends on what you paid for it 18 months ago, the pricevof the new one and is the spec of the new one better than the one you currently own.
18 month old Oceans are being offered by dealers for approx £65k to £69k depending on specification.
5 years interest free is very tempting and I think they are also offering 5 years warranty and 2 or 3 services and 2 MOT’S
 
Would be better off £wise selling your old van privately, rather than letting the dealer take the profit.

+ If you change you may end up with a leaky roof with the bellowsgate saga, making the newer van hard to sell on once any warranty has expired. So long term might be better off keeping your old van.

I’m looking to sell privately then as a cash purchase look for a very low mileage 2023 van ie under 1000miles they are out there

Is the bellowsgate saga the reason there are low mileage 2023 vans out there?
 
I can’t quite get my head around the uptake of these offers.
Dealers don’t ’buy and sell’ for our benefit.
 
It really depends on your personal circumstances. Breeze were offering 5 years service plus two MOTs and a 5 year warranty. I had 5 years warranty on our current van but would only have 3 years remaining. I didn't have a service plan.

We own our van so taking out the interest free loan for 50% means we get a wad of cash back. In my case it is going to fund my daughters Masters .However, if it wasn't for the fact I needed to fund my daughters masters then it would not have been worth it.

Plus, I am still sorting out snagging issues with our current van and have almost got them all sorted. I imagine i will have to do this all over again!

I’m looking to buy an 18 month old 4motion Ocean with the upgraded nav pro and shower if anyone is looking to sell

A valid point. However, I think we tend to hear about the leaking ones more than we do about the ones that are ok. A good friend has a four month old Cali and been out in all this weather. No leak. He isn't a forum member and wasn't even aware that there was a potential issue. I get water ingress through the top of the tailgate of my current van if it is chucking it down and the pop top is up! We tend to use a roof topper anyway for privacy and sound insulation.

I did a risk analysis. In my case it works out financially. If i did keep my existing van, which is valid advice, and damaged the bellows then i would have to replace them with the new ones.

Most probably the main reason for taking a risk on the leaking bellows:

Having seen the sports pack on an Ascot Grey I regretted not going for it. It looks stunning. Haven't made that mistake this time around.

The trouble is that the issue of the leaky bellows is now well documented. So could be an issue in say 5 years time when people look at selling their vans as it's likely that resale values will be impacted. Older vans are not affected.

If I ever upgrade to a T6.1, it certainly wouldn’t be one with 03S or 04S bellows. That would be my first requirement having been through the debacle myself.

Of course there will be many future buyers that are blissfully unaware of the bellows issues, so I don’t imagine there would be a problem selling or impact on residual value.
 
Much rather take my chances in the 2nd hand market with a potential leaky bellows than a rotting roof / bodged roof repair, or a blown engine - both of which are well documented and affect specific build periods, but don’t seem to overly affect residuals.

Ironic - I have a leaking tailgate too on my 2022 Cali ..water constantly on the folded comfort mattress that eventually have to have a set of waterproof bag for it.
