Hi All, We are Catherine and Ian in Horsham, Sussex and due to take delivery of our first campervan on Monday having ordered it a year ago- very excited!! It is a California Ocean in Candy White and we are getting a lower half wrap in sky blue
No fixed plans yet but Isle of Wight and Scotland are high up the list!
Any advice on insurance and security appreciated

We are insured with Comfort but they weren't happy with wrapping...

We do have a tracker & a stoplock. Currently considering other options.

Welcome to the club! There are a number of threads about insurance and security. The subjects tend to be linked as your chosen insurer may or may not need you to install a tracker to a certain standard, or could offer a discount if you have one. My best advice is to write down the key parameters you have (mileage, use, foreign travel, excess you’re happy with, valuables cover, camping cover (tents etc), breakdown cover etc), and then call a list of insurers to see what they offer. No-one can really advise you of the best insurer, as it’s down to lots of factors that are unique to you.

We are hoping to order our first California Ocean T6.1, noticed a ‘Ghost’ alarm system has been mentioned. Could anyone advise on best security for a California. I was thinking. Tracker but sounds like people think the Autowatch ‘Ghost’ system is better? Don’t know much about this or a tracker...

I got a great quote from LV on new Coast with no additional security required.

1st security purchase was a Safelock for our spare wheel, they seem to be a particular target (purchased from the club shop)
2nd was a Stoplock Pro for steering wheel ( purchased from Halfords). I understand this is more an additional visual deterrent.
3rd purchase a Tyre/Wheel Lock ( mostly used when sitting in driveway and not in use. We don’t normally carry it on travels)
We received a Dash cam as part of our Ocean purchase deal and would probably purchased one anyway.
We are with Comfort Insurance.

Collected our new Cali Coast today and have taken out insurance with LV set up a few days ago. As you say, very good.

Hi, hope it all goes smoothly for you, I’ve ordered the same with the intention of a bottom half wrap. I’ll be very interested how you get on, especially if you find a good firm to do the wrap, I can’t get anyone in Norwich to give me a quote… all the best.

Welcome to the community! I'm with Comfort. Also have a VW factory fitted tracker. If you have a spare wheel underneath it's worth considering a SpareSafe for security.
