Very excited with our new van, Vincent. He is 3 years old, and very generously optioned up. We bought him without seeing him from a VW dealer by click and collect- strange times indeed! Big relief to find that he is a great colour and has been very well looked after by his previous owner. Went out yesterday to the park, drank tea and played a board game in the warm whilst watching the snow come down. Living the dream! Enjoying the detailed discussions on this forum and looking forward to joining in.

:welcome lucky you and congratulations! we would all love to see some pictures :)

Welcome on board @VincentVan . ... and we can see that you are bonding very well with him ... as not many people post pictures of 4MO differential and wheels off (presumably to clean the spigots on the standard Davenports) . So you are all getting ready.

May this lockdown end soon so that we can all start to enjoy our vehicles.

Enjoy the adventures.

Thanks! More about bonding than cleaning! Checking out how to change a wheel. The jack’s good, but i think a better tyre lever of some sort is needed. I found it awkward to get the correct torque, especially with the locking wheelnut adapter

Given the new lockdown there might need to be some camping in the drive

Whisk you have the wheel off, put some copper grease around the central spigot. The Davenport's are notorious at sticking to the central spigot.

Yup, I have a 1m long bar which I carry and use instead of the standard tyre lever.

Hi VincentVan,
Welcome and many happy voyages when we get the chance.

You’re not wrong- a lot of kicking was involved in getting those alloys off!! Thanks for the tip. Where do you stow that bar?

Just wrap it in a piece of cloth and it stays in the rear load area. If not, then in the drawer under the rear seat. Small enough to tuck it in just anywhere you can find it when you have a flat. :)

This is the one that I have (24 inches) - https://www.halfords.com/tools/garage-equipment/garage-essentials/halfords-advanced-professional-breaker-bar-1/2in-drive-226636.html
That’s a good price!, and considerably less weight than a piece of scaffolding pole I use on my tyre lever!

Thanks All! I’ll get him one of those, along with another even more vital piece of kit, a kettle!

:welcome If albeit a bit late... can’t wait to camp on the drive in my new Cali when it arrives. Look forward to hearing about your camping experiences (on the drive if that’s all we can do)
