New owner still learning

Hi all
My husband and purchase cali last year. We're loving the freedom it gives us. We are experiencing a problem with our gas stove at the moment though, we can't get it to high. Both burners stay on the low setting, even when the know is pointing to the highest setting. Any advice would be great. Thank you
