Hi there. I received my new California Edition 6.1 on 20th June and since then I haven't been able to operate the control panel which refuses to switch on with only the knob flashing. It went back to VW for 3 days as they were thinking it was the battery which was faulty but to no avail. They have decided to replace the control panel but it will take another 2 weeks before the spare one arrives. Anyone knows how to do a reset ? Which battery power the control panel ? Any suggestion will be most welcome as I feel really frustrated now. Thanks.

Check the block fuse on the rear battery,
get the fault codes deleted then disconnect
all of the batteries and reconnect.

The new control panel has no reset.
Apparently the CU always remembers the last status
and only after the defect is removed can it be used again.

Unfortunately the screen remains desperately black so no chance to delete any faulty codes as there aren't any.

Could it be along the same lines as this?

Try resetting the control panel by removing the fuses, ref Loz's post

I wouldn't mess with a new vehicle.
Call out VW assist and ask for them to send the VW assist specialist not AA.
