John from Hastings in East Sussex here. Having exhausted YouTube of California Ocean videos, I’ve been lurking here for a while, gaining more knowledge on the VW California while counting down the days until collecting mine.
That day finally came last Wednesday and I’m now the very proud and ecstatically happy owner of a late 2023 California Ocean in Starlight Blue metallic,which is in my profile pic.
I was searching for 2 years to get the exact spec I wanted and viewed quite a lot of California’s in that time. Still getting used to all the technology it is loaded up with. It’s quite an upgrade from a Fiat 500s twinair.
I’ve not fallen in to the trap of buying loads of stuff I think I will need, but have made a list of those things and in time I will buy what I actually need from said list.
I’ve done a couple of nights away already with crockery and stuff liberated from the kitchen and the duvet from my bed. It was great and I was super toasty. My Greyhound Bodie decided within 10 seconds he was sleeping on the downstairs bed so I’ve slept upstairs. I’m sure I’ll get a look in on the downstairs bed at some point.
My other vehicle is a 93 Fiat Panda Selecta, which is a CVT auto and shows just how far auto boxes have come since then.
