Niki Lauda

Top guy. Back in the seat 40 days later.
Unbelievable, he would not be allowed to do that today, Elf and safety pins.
What pain must he have had to go through just to get his helmet on !

It was not encouraging that he was not seen public so long ....now the sad news .
Back in his days F1 racing was way more dangerous then now ...thank God !
Still sad a hero like him must die in a bed/hospital
RIP to the Rat ;)

We’re all going to go one day, it’s how you live your life that counts, and boy did he live :Stig

So, so sad and only 70. We, the sport will be poorer for his passing. RIP Niki.

What a character, and good friend of another character and competitor James Hunt.
Re-united. RIP.

A sad loss for the sport. Even in more recent times it was fantastic to listen to his matter of fact opinions whilst working for Mercedes F1.

I used to be very into formula 1 and met many of its stars. James Hunt even came to my 21st birthday party ! I”ll see if I can find a pic if me with NL in the loft. I remember being at the GP and literally being invited into multiple pits. Wouldn’t happen today due to H&S concerns and technical rivalry. If I was watching at home I would cook a meal for my friends from the country the GP was in eg salt cod from Portugal! Many happy memories!

Now on BBC docu on Lauda/Hunt
