Bit of cautionary news from UK Gov. relating to travel to France

Security staff working for Eurostar have announced strike action on 16, 18, 22 and 23 December which is likely to have a severe impact on travellers using the service in the run up to Christmas. You should check the Eurostar website prior to travelling for the most recent updates to services. Strikes have also been announced on the UK rail network which could disrupt train services between the UK and France. Please keep checking for updates from your travel operator and plan for the possibility of disruption to your journey.

Oh sh*t!

We are planning a day trip to Boulogne with my elderly parents on 23 December (very probably their last ever overseas trip).

This is to use up our last frequent traveller ticket that expires on 31 December.

Is it just Eurostar that is affected or is Le Shuttle affected too?

Will us pensioners be the only group not out on strike soon :)

Current advice on the Euro Tunnel Le Shuttle website:

"Eurotunnel services are unaffected by any current or planned industrial strike action, and our service will run as normal."

So, you should be OK. At the moment......

That was my first thought too ... But as mentioned above as well "Eurotunnel services are unaffected by any current or planned industrial strike action, and our service will run as normal."

We are taking the Eurotunnel for a short Swiss break! Hopefully the road works strike does not have too much of an impact this side of the channel.
