Well, after just 4 months wait, our Cali finally arrived! So far we’ve only done day trips to Cow and Calf (Ilkley) and Hard Castle Craggs (Hebden Bridge). We absolutely love it

Thinking of going to Nidderdale this weekend but slightly reluctant as we don’t have a topper and it’s pretty remote up there! Do we really need a topper? Wasn’t going to buy one....

Great news. The wait however long is worth it and you forget all the problems we had during the process once it arrives. I’m still driving around trying not to smile all the while. Your van is very similar to ours and you’re in Leeds :) I’ll certainly look out for you and give you a wave. Here’s to many happy adventures.

You don't NEED a Topper, especially if you can put the roof up at home to dry the canvas. Shouldn't be put away wet for more than a few days before thoroughly drying it.

Excellent news!:bananadance2

Great looking van. Welcome .

We debated for awhile about the need for topper.

Had Grace for nearly two years & have managed fine without a topper. The canvas quickly dries out. Can be cold in the winter upstairs but we are snug in our double sleeping .

As others have said......you don't need a topper......it's a personal thing.

If it was just the two of us then we wouldn't have bothered, but as we put the kids up in the top bed we found it makes it a bit cosier up there and darker in the mornings. In the summer we probably won't bother as much.

Can't fault your colour and wheel choice by the way :thumb

Super choice, same colour and wheels as us! Is that the standard VW bike rack?

Welcome to the club, excellent choice of colour & wheels Happy travels

Welcome.
Never used a topper during six years of Cali life, summer use only though. T6 fabric is more waterproof and dries out much quicker than T5 type. The T6 fabric let's a lot more light through which I personally like as it gives a bright feel. If you had a topper obviously this will be reduced. If you are if you are touring, you then have to store a wet topper. A topper will help stop sleeping bags touching wet sides if sleeping up top.
