Not knowing which vehicle you have makes it difficult, I’m afraid. According to your Avatar details you’re still looking.

Sorry he's a 2012 California berghaus
Try this.

For those of you who don't know, if you ever get any problems with roof stuck or any other error say with the heater or fridge, you are able to access the hidden menu in your control panel as used by the VW Engineers.

Access as follows:

1. Hold down the centre of the rotary button together with the menu button (button below with the squares on it)

2. You will get the hidden menu.

3. Rotate the rotary button to get to "VW diagnose" and select this by pressing on the centre of the rotary button.

4. If no errors are present it will display "no errors"

5. If Errors are present then a list of errors will appear

6. Press the centre of the rotary button again to delete all the errors

7. Repeat process above just to check that errors have dissapeared!

8. Re-configure the time and date if neccesary.

Any problems should be resolved assuming these are Electronic and not Mechanical.

So which is the menu botton on this panel as their are no bottons with a squares on it?

As as far as I'm aware it's the centre button that you are telling me to hold down which access our menu so what other botton do I need to hold ?

So hold the centre of the dial botton along with the return arrow will get me the menu

Hold in the centre button and at the same time the one with the return arrow.

Ok so I have 1 code 1000 that's not on the list and pressing the centre button isn't deleting it and the message tells me how but don't know what to do to delete it

Okay, if you can remove the control panel - either that or disconnect the
starter battery for 5 or 10mins. That should reset it.
Once you've done that then pop your roof up and down a couple of times, you
might be lucky and all your problems have gone.
@TripleBee might know a bit too.

I did that but it jumps back to the vw diagnostics menu and it doesn't get rid of it
That means it is a Permanent fault rather than a temporary fault. Probably one of the 4 sensors has failed so the Computer thinks the roof is not closed correctly.
The sensor needs to be replaced, but it is integral with the wiring loom for the roof.

Or you have a permanent fault on one of the sensors on the hydraulic rams.
I had 2 wires disconnected from the sensors on the right ram, and I had a warning on the display too to put on the ignition to operate the roof, while the ignition was on.
Repaired the wires, no faults anymore. Worth to check.

Where on the rams is the wiring as when up I can't see any wires ?

Before attacking where the wires are have you
disconnected the power?

Just disconnect the main ignition battery not any of the leisure batteries

With the roof popped if I disconnect the power to check the wire in the arms will the roof stay up ?

Post #14 is what i am on about,
if you want to check the ram wiring then of course the
roof must be up.
