When closing the roof last week and following the correct procedure and opening windows, one of the vertical legs on the side towards the back (the ones that are on the material and fold in at the middle) didn't fold in as usual. The material got caught up, is now slightly torn, the leg is now kinked in various places and sometimes doesn't want to bend inwards on lowering, the metal roof also has a small bump now. I bought the vehicle second hand and is nearly 3 yrs old. Does anyone have any advice on this issue such as does it happen often? Is it covered by warranty? Is it possible to get the leg replaced/fixed without getting a whole new canvas?

Thanks

The scissor mechanism will be a separate item to the bellow. May be able to get just one side. Could it be straightened out ??
I would suggest you first try to get it replace under warranty, but I suspect you will not be successful as VW have tightened up on these sort of warranty claims saying it is user error.
Small bellows tears can be repaired with with Tear-Aid.
