Hi All,

I have a problem with the control panel of my '91 T4 Westfaila.

The display allways shows all icons:-

Also the fridge turns on (I have to pull the fuse as the moment to stop it).

None of the buttons are responsive and I have tried holding down various combinations of buttons to get to the diagnostic mode as per http://www.t4-wiki.de/wiki/Bedienungs-_und_Anzeigeeinheit_E153_(Campingausstattung). Nothing seems to work.

The display is the same if the engine is running or not and if the mains hookup is connected.

Any ideas??

Many thanks,

Jim

I take it you’ve pulled it out and disconnected/reconnected the multipin plug?

Have you just bought the bus?
Has it just started doing this?

Yes I have disconnected/reconnected the multipin plug and also replaced all of the fuses just in case but no luck. Even had a look at the pcb in case I could see any obvious components blown, but all looked ok.

I have had the van for about 4 years. Everything was working fine until this happened.

Well all I can suggest is you dig out the wiring diagram from here

http://www.westfaliat4.info/html/vw_westfalia_t4_transporter_do.html

then try to disconnect each input to the control panel from the remote end. This may prove that something external is causing an issue.

Failing that on the same website you’ll find a control pnl instruction pdf, there should be a fault finding section. You may need to translate from German.

The fact you fridge is operating suggests a fault at the panel.

Just check the DIP switches on the rear of the panel are as they should be.

Good luck.
