Calisti,

Roughly Pau area-ish.

Small, quiet.

Ta v much.

Had a great week at Pyrenees Natura, in the mountains south of Pau near Argeles Gazost.

Quiet, nice facilities, quite strict on curfew and noise but not particularly cheap. Would definitely go again.

Loafs of sites up the valley fom Lourdes towards Luz. Cant recommend any as we have a house at Cauterets but they all look good.
What time of year?

Looks good. Many thanks.

Heading there tomorrow

Pont dEspagne, Cirque de Gavarnie, Tourmalet, Pic de Midi must dos.
If you're a walker cable car from Cauterets to the top, walk back down via the Refuge d Ilhou.
Could also turn right just before Gavarnie village. Drive to the top and easy walk on old road to the Spanish border.

Tourmalet is epic, couldn't take my bike this summer but I want to go back with it (and a bigger rear cassette!).

Gavarnie looks optimum. Quality intel, thanks.

Heading there tomorrow, assuming we can tear ourselves away from St. Cirq Lapopie

Tourmalet obvs en route. :cheers

Ah missed that. Had a cheeky pression though.

Espot on Spanish side is stunning, amazing walks and even have Land Rover tours up the mountain.

The French side in the national park isn’t dog friendly at all, no dogs allowed not even on a lead. Especially Gavarnie (waterfall walk), you will get fined. Spanish side is fine.

I know. We walked up to the hotel below the waterfall and were amazed to see the no dogs sign. Coach loads of tourists to buy stuffed toy marmots but no exercising your dog.

Perhaps it was the time of year when we visited, but we found Gavarnie very commercial and touristy.

Enjoyed Troumouse and Estaube far more.

That was in 1982 - it might very well be different now!
