I tried a couple external media sources going via the usb media interface into the RDC 310 Radio: a hard disk and a mini mp3 player, and neither worked. But a USB flash drive/ stick does work and the critical aspect of it is the flash bit. For less than £20 I now have 128Gb of music storage - more tracks than I can ever use on one journey - actually all of my digital music. The menu system is a little clunky, displaying only one line of detail at a time, but you get used to it very quickly. The trick is to name your directories according to your main search criteria - and to not have more sub-directories than you really need to. The player should play MP3 and WMA files although I have only tried MP3s so far. There is an option to store iTunes files on your computer in MP3 format. I did, and copied all of my iTunes library and more easily onto the USB stick. No faffing around anymore: the USB stick just stays in the Cali.
