red lights speedo and rev counter needle no longer red!

Driving home from a lovely day at Hunstanton this eve we realised that the red speedo and rec counter needles were no longer illuminated red (though the temp and fuel guage little ones are OK still)
a nuisance trying to keep to speed limits!
any ideas out there?
I have searched the forum but cant find a similar prob, if I missed a thread please post link
and hello to the nice couple at Cliif top Car park who stopped for a quick Cali chat / hello

Check that the Dashboard Dimmer is working.
Could be a bulb has gone behind the Dashboard in which case the Instrument console has to be removed.

so in the way of all modern stuff, simple jobs like replace dash bulbs means work the likes of me don't fancy trying .... a case of a 10p bulb and a £100 fitting...
time to ring he dealership then drat -

just went to check the dimmer (set on brightest still) and ..
the speedo and rev counter needles are illuminated red again now
