RNS 315 Media input?

I know it's an old stereo now, but I do like the satnav and it does everything I need. I wondered if this was a good idea as a media input either via phone or via another device. Other devices required soldering and modification of the RNS315 which I don't want to do.

Anyone have any experience of this?

Doesn't your glove box has an AUX-input? I know mine has (with originally an RCD310). Then you can play music wired from your phone AUX out to the AUX in from the radio. Then select media, and source.

Otherwise there might be a possibility to install a 'real' Media interface, but I don't know if this is originally possible through VW. Maybe some audio tech guys can do such things with programming through VCDS or something?

Mine came without the glovebox media interface but I enabled bluetooth myself via my vagcom device.

I am pretty sure there was no original multimedia interface on the RNS315 but there are a few expensive aftermarket ones.
