Picking up my new beach next Monday and sorting out insurance. Joined VIP to get the insurance discount only to discover that Safegaurd don’t insure the beach. ‘No sorry the beach is the one model we don’t insure’

Comfort do. As long as you have Motor Caravan on your v5 as a body type.

Check out Club Care Motorhome Insurance

We were pleasantly surprised by the premium. New motorhome replacement up to 3 years too. :thumb

They also include things like awnings and kit you take away.

They were about the same as the price we were quoted from LV.

Caravan & Motor Home Club insured my Beach. I was expecting them to refuse based on previous comments on this forum.

Try your local office of NFU. They weren’t the cheapest for me but they didn’t seem to have as many restrictions on usage/parking/mileage/ownership etc as other companies did. As mine is a daily driver, that suited.

Seems odd when they offer the club a discount. I personally use LV.

Not sure the club should be promoting a company which doesn’t offer a service let alone a discount to a large proportion of the clubs/forums members...!

Cmon guys, seriously...?

Not every member owns a Beach.
In fact I wonder which model is in the majority?

Absolutely.
However this is the California forum. It’s not the Ocean and a few Beach owners forum.
Surely only those companies that can offer all members policy’s should be promoted...

I would have the same opinion if it worked the other way.

But there are many companies that will not insure the SE/Ocean for full use etc: . Should those members suffer?. What it boils down to in the end is the ambiguity of the Beachs Body Type classification which you can take advantage of on Channel crossings but possibly lose out on with specialist insurers. Swings and roundabouts in the end.

Are these companies promoted and advertised on this forum...???

No idea.
But then I can't disguise the fact my SE is a Campervan and not a large car / people carrier.

That old chestnut.
It’s a buildersvan with a gas hob inside.
Cmon Welshgas, stop being a silly willy

Is it not the case that all vans are builders vans then including the Mercedes? What I do know is that all motor vehicles are boxes with wheels and engines and my Cali is as well built as any.

By your definition the Slidepod Advert should be banned also, doubt if any Ocean or SE owners even gave that a second thought.

At most Safeguard could stipulate Oceans only and do a similar promotion of their sister site for the Beach.

Now your coming round to intelligent thinking.
Perhaps the forum should put its members first and promote a company willing to give the whole forum a discount regardless of Beach, Ocean or Coast...?

Currently it’s like weight watchers promoting half price mars bars to members with a BMI index of less than 14.
:headbang

Don't get your comment about 'coming round to intelligent thinking' presume you mean from your personal point view.

Anyhow-

I think that any discount that the Club Forum can source/provide whether specific to particular models or not is worthwhile and is optional whether to take it up or not.

I think the answer is to just vote with one’s wallet. I called the Safeguard sister company to insure my Beach. They had all the extra rules, stipulations and caveats but no benefits to go with, so I just went elsewhere. It’s not a smug or Beach vs Ocean thing and I didn’t save loads either. I think the companies that genuinely specialise are able to give better deals but this group Company Is trying to create an impression that there’s a preferential deal for Beach owners if they use Scenic. There isn’t.

To be honest, my renewal was £260 this year for our Beach.
Didn’t look elsewhere, it seemed cheap enough already.

Exactly - so I have to go to a specialist Insurer to get the cover I require, with No Forum Discount as Safeguard do not provide the cover I require. For others Safeguard may well provide the cover they require and I am more than happy some Forum Members are able to take advantage of the Discount offered.
That's Life, as they say.
