Sorry if this has been posted before feel free to move or redirect me... :D

Is the service plan worth taking over the 3 years?? Not sure as the Cali will be set to long life so will be when required....

Also GAP Insurance don't some insurance companys do new for old??

Any advice would be great :D

I had a three year service plan two minor and a major service but I only did about 5k a year
so really overkill not sure if oil gets worse with age it depends if you like the thought of the van going
2 years without an oil change. On the plus side its a fixed price so if vw decide to put up their prices you save a bit :thumb

I got gap insurance because I think the write-off value will be thousands short of replacement cost. Don't buy it through the dealer though - they charge WAY over the odds! There are specialist providers who will do it at a very reasonable price.

I never get Gap insurance:
- Getting you car/van written off is a very rare occurrence
- If I am unlucky enough to have the van written off - I expect an equivalent van, not a newer or better, but a van of the equivalent value that it was the day before it was written off
- If you insurance company offer you a rubbish price do not accept it - ask them to show you where you can buy an equivalent van for that price. Use Autotrader, Van Trader, This Forum as prices.

Just my opinion.

The service plan is a good bargaining chip, at then end of the haggle you can probably get one or 2 services thrown in for free.

As Kev says if you have to buy it, it doesn't save you a massive amount as VW have fixed price servicing, but it does protect you from future price rises.

Extending the Warranty at the end of the 3 years is another kettle of fish - I have not formulated an opinion on that yet - I have a couple of years of cogitating on that one :?

We've been offered '4 for 2' on servicing- so you pay for a major and an intermediate service (total £370 + vat) and get one of each free- sounds good... is it? (actually the website says it is only available with finance deals, but we were offered it anyway).

2 free services sounds good to me :thumb

Re: Service Plan & Gap Insurance

Depends on the time scale.......allowed.....

I have a March 2010 facelift and on long life service .....only ever had an oil change and another service

Re: Service Plan & Gap Insurance

It's almost as if VW are pushing these offers in opposition to their sales pitch of the long life service regime which they want to push.

I don't see the point as I have a 49000 miler on long life service which I have spent very little on
