Hello all, I am after some help as I have been struggling to find a replacement window pane on my T4 Cali Freestyle. A bird flew into the glass and the outer pane is shattered. For the life of me I am unable to find a new one. Could someone please point me in the right direction of getting a new one as taking the whole window out will mean taking out the whole kitchen etc (a massive headache). Please the the photos. I can’t even find a right part number. Please help

Oh what a shame :(

I really do hope someone on here can help you.

Wow. Did the bird get up and fly away after that impact?

The big problem with this is sourcing an original style window. I believe there are plenty of aftermarket ones available but I’m not sure they’d be double-glazed. As a start point you’re probably as well giving VW a call with your chassis number to see whether they can get hold of a replacement. If they can’t, ask them for the part number so you can search elsewhere for a replacement. There’s a site in Germany - online-teile.com that specialises in sourcing new old stock parts for many brands. They may be able to help if VW can’t. After that you’re probably going to have to scour specialist breakers which I imagine will be very, VERY time consuming.

Also, it’s worth noting the window can be removed without having to take out the kitchen. There are three access holes visible along the rear edge of the unit when you lift the lid. It’s a bit nerve racking removing the window retaining nuts as they are out of view but if you’re careful it’s easily dealt with.

Thank you all for getting back. I am really keen to understand on how it can be removed without taking the kitchen out as I can source a full new window no problem. I have been looking this afternoon for the access holes and for the life of me I can’t see them. Could I bee cheeky and ask if you could take a photo to point out where they are as I am a little slow when it comes to things like this. And thanks again

Just had another look and I’ve got the access holes! Germans... thought of everything, love their engineering thinking. And I take. The other bolts are behind the panels, which just lift out all around the top and sides?

You got it…
