Oops, obviously I'm still new at this. I had some text but it disappeared. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with sliding door seals. I've a gap of about an inch at the bottom of the sliding door, and I think water has been getting in and rusting the sill from the inside.

Does anyone know if there is a filler piece to close this gap, or if I'll need to replace the whole seal?

I guess this is a job I can do myself, has anyone done this before?

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Rob

Aha. I wondered if there was a missing question. Ordinarily there wouldn’t be a gap and there would be a short piece of neoprene rubber tubing that links the ends of the outer part of the seal together. It does look a little rusty in there particularly the part near the ‘b’ pillar. Looks to me like it needs a good dose of waxoyl or spray lubricant in there. This’ll keep the rust at bay and probably smooth the action of the lower roller.

Thanks! There's quite a bit of rust at the other end of the sliding door, so I'm toying with the idea of getting the steel replaced over the winter, might try sanding it down and seeing what's left first!

I don't suppose anyone would have a couple of inches of serviceable seal they'd be willing to sell me? It's £140 for the main dealers for the complete seal!

Sounds like a plan. You may be able to get a seal from a breakers yard or on eBay. As far as I’m aware the seal is the same for a left hand sliding door, as you would get on a RHD T4.
