Speaker adaptor lead incorrectly wired.

Hi All,
I am in the process of upgrading my front speakers and I have come across what appears to be a wiring error on an adaptor lead.
I have started a new thread specifically for this as it may be useful information to those having done a previous upgrade.
The picture shows the adaptor cable plugged into the VW harness. As can be seen the Red speaker positive is connected to the brown/blue stripe which I believe to be the vw negative speaker connection.
If you have used this type of adaptor with only some of the speakers in your system upgrade, such as front only and not rear speakers then the sound quality will be compromised.
