Step Maintenance

Hello all... wondering if anyone does maintenance to the slide out step - regularly cleaning so it slides better, or lubricating it? It takes the brunt of any road grime and dirt! I've seen some other Thule online threads with advice on WD40 or silicon lube or motorcycle lube with no consensus but I can't find anything in instructions for the slide out step that advises on regular maintenance. Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers, Ian&Ross

Again and again you read in various forums that Calicamper have problems with the step. This could probably be avoided in 90 percent of cases...
