strong joint between two wires

I have a 2005 Cali with the mechanism to lower the bed at the top of the back seat. But it was made of plastic and a poor design and broke soon after I got the van 10 years ago. A replacement worked for a while but then while I was in France one of bobbles on the end of a wire broke off. Foolishly I cut the other wire and used electrical connectors to do a temporary job to connect the two wires in the van to some I bought. It worked for a while. Does anyone know of any heavy duty means of connecting one wire to another please? I've a notion that it can be done using a crimping tool but am not the most practical

I'm assuming you want to join wire rope, the same sort that you would use for a garage door, rather than electrical wire. In which case Screwfix sell a set of crimpable fixings (part number 30192) which should do what you want.
