Recent announcement from VW identifies that its latest generation four-cylinder Diesel engines are approved for use with parafinnic diesel fuel. This development is intended to prolong the use of VWs use of diesel engined vehicles and at the same time offer some reduction in tail pipe CO2 emissions - when used in combination with parafinnic diesel fuel (currently a rare offering at the forecourt fuel pump). More details can be found in VW press release (see attached link). However the press release focuses on their passenger car fleet - not commercial van fleet. So the question is; are these engines now being installed in Californias? They make reference in the press release to an engine ID of CW25/21. Are any owners of new T 6.1s manufactured after June this year aware that they may have these new engines with the potential for lower CO2 emissions when used with parafinnic diesel? Are any dealers reading this aware of this engine development applying to their new vans?
