Just bought a T6 beach with a 3 seater bench and was wondering. What is the best downstairs bed set up? Comfort Mattress, topper “Duvalay or similar” or topper on top of comfort mattress?

The un-comfort mattress is pants. We ordered with ours but it's hard work. In the pop top the stock mattress is fine with the springs but if we hanging about we use our S2S SIM.

Downstairs we use our Duvalay but over the uncomfort, just for some extra depth. Not really tried without to see if it makes a diff enough to save the space in the boot.

We haven’t got a un-comfort mattress or topper and trying to work out what’s more important for us flat but uncomfortable or comfortable and not flat or do we need to buy both?

We use the standard mattress with an IKEA Talgje mattress topper. It works for us. We have even used the Talgje without any mattress for ten consecutive weeks. It is lumpy but bearable.

There are three main ways to configure the Beach bed. The usual way: full length multiflex and lowered bench is a little short at 1.8m. The long bed: short multiflex, lowered bench seat and two additional folded seats is a huge 2.0m by 1.5m.

We have the VW comfort mattress with a 5cm Duvalay topper. But have struggled sleeping without having to toss and turn with dead arms. (Side sleeper)

Trying 2 x 5cm Duvalays on top of each other without the VW comfort mattress this weekend.

Thanks, does the comfort mattress help flatten the surface removing the bumps as one side is contoured or is it a flat piece of foam that helps reduce the bump due to its depth?

We use two decathlon self inflating mattresses. Don't take up a lot of room when deflated, and can be partially deflated to fold over

The comfort mattress does give a completely flat surface due to the foam in the mattress being cut to shape (see image, each section is a different shape and thickness)

But we found it too hard to sleep on (even with a 5cm Duvalay Memory foam topper). But if you like a hard mattress it may be ok.

We slept on it for about 10 nights in total and at first thought we would get used to it but we never slept through.

It also takes up a lot of space on the parcel shelf.

We do use the ‘end section’ of the comfort mattress to go on the multi flex to raise it to the same height as the seats when flat.

We have 10cm of memory foam topper on top of the seats. Not perfectly flat, but a lot more comfortable for us.

Hope this helps explain what works for us.

For the 3 seater contoured bench seat in the Beach, I believe the VW Comfort mattress is countoured accordingly to provide a flat sleeping surface.

we prefer not to take any additional mattress in the van taking up valuable space - when we sleep downstairs we move the upstairs mattress downstairs and sleep on that -
