Hi fellow cali lovers,

I'm hoping to poke your brain about a best approach for three small issues I have found in my 2016, T6 Ocean.

1) Starting off with this spring. I found it under the (swiveling) front passenger seat. Does anyone have any idea where this belongs? I tried looking for it, but I could not find an obvious place this is supposed to be placed. The seat doesn't show any issue or or irregular behavior.

2) The glue on the fabric in this panel seems to be giving up. How difficult is it to take this panel out in order to fix it?

3) This is probably the more challenging one. The handle on the sliding rear seat never goes fully back in. The seat functions fine, but under no circumstances can I get the handle to go more in than as you can see while pushing on it in the left photo. Without pushing its resting state is a bit more outward.

I initially looked around on the forums and found one more person with this issue, they took out the seat and found a little stone lodged in an area that prevented the "foot/pedal" from fully going down. I did the same and took out the seat to check for anything that might be blocking it, sadly I wasn't able to find anything that shouldn't be there.

Hopefully some of you might recognize these issues, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best,
Mickey

As for the second problem, take a look here;

Ufff, I was hoping this would have been an easier issue. Wild that im already seeing this, the van is not that old. Thanks for the amazing info though Marc.

photo 2 - I'd be inclined to inject adhesive fine a fine gauge needle through the material and then stick it down. Admittedly this requires access to fine gauge needles.

Photo 1 and 3 related? Maybe that is the spring that gets the handle all the way back?

Edit: just went and checked the van. Cannot see the spring, but it is a strong spring and should be similar to the one in pic 1. The drawer will need to come out to fix this one.

But the mystery, how did it get to under the front seat?

Photo 3: mine does this sometimes but only when it's not in the fully locked position. Try moving the seat forward slightly, maybe 1cm until it locks. works for me every time. Good luck.

The seat does lock ;-) unfortunately there's no position in which the handle moves inward more.

No clue about the spring.

The loose fabric, i had that happening to, only much worse. Some make a small cut and spray glue (heat resistent glue) behind the fabric and press. This did not work for me. Couldn't remove the panel with just the fabric as it is bonded onto the bigger side panel. So i removed the fabric, cleaned the whole thing, and wrapped the back of the cali in plastic. Then used the spray glue and stuck felt on it.

Maybe question 1 and 3 are related? I have to say i do not have any expert on this sort of backseat trouble. Looks to me something like the locking mech from the backseat doesn't work. Does the seat lock on both sides, or just on one side? If it locks on both sides.., then maybe a retractor spring to hold the handle back is gone. On ours the handle has a good resistens when pulling it out to move the seat, you can hear the spring(s) pop and snair

The mystery spring looks very similar to the tensioning spring no. 41 in post #7.
Hard to figure out what it is tensioning. Could be something to do with the release handle.

Ours rear bench handle did not return flush on purchase, VW investigated and replaced whole seat mechanism/base they said it was twisted
