Thule G2 or Brandrup single side panel - which to get?

We have the factory-fitted awning and I'm looking at getting a single side panel to provide a little more protection from the worst of the weather when putting on shoes, drying the dog, etc. The Thule G2 looks good because it fits right at the edge of the awning and is an exact fit, but requires an extra pole and a bit more faffing than the competitor. The simplicity of the Brandrup side panel appeals, but its nature means there will always be gaps (particularly if we get a front panel in the future), and the fact that it wraps around the existing awning arm means you lose a bit of space. Has anyone had experience of both, and developed a preference, or do any owners of either have any particular pros or cons to point out? Thanks!

Have you considered a 6’ square, or similar, tarpaulin, some rubber bungees and 2 tent pegs. You can then move it from side to side as required, at a fraction of the cost.

The Thule panel and associated support beam are of superior quality/design, happily complimenting the California's obvious class, alternatives that rely on the awning arms or random tarps are functional but not necessarily elegant. You pays your money............

Exactly. 1 piece of equipment, multiple uses, saves on weight and room. Function over form.

Having had both G2 sides & Brandrup side, I have kept the brandrup as it folds down to a tiny parcel, the G2 is a more heavyweight item & carrying the poles is a faff.
If you are worried about a bit of a gap at the top where it meets the awning neither product is for you! & its pretty inconsequential unless you are fitting 2 sides & a front as well.
If you are looking for more than just one panel of either system you might as well just go with the complete room from comfort.

We have a couple of the Brandrup ones for the sides, very easy to fit & they slide in nicely between the chairs. The silver material works very well in the sun as well as being waterproof. Also have eyelets so you can pole the sides up to create a larger covered area if required.

Thanks all - I've plumped for the Brandrup ones on the basis of less faff and easier storage.

Good decision. We have one Brandrup front and side panel. Well made, looks smart, folds down small and with a couple of aluminium tent poles and guys, it can be extended out for loads of shade.
