On another thread I was discussing the planned trip to see and take pictures, tyres remain the issue . So many people say studs are the best for the North west coast and of course they are right, however we have to have these tyres useful in other countries too.

I have found these non studded tyres with little crystals in the compound and these rank better in some tests then some studded tyres. The video is interesting . Price around 140 each, plus vat.

So Winter Tyres with a minimum 3mm tread are Legal. Also you will need to take snow chains.

Also, once you get into Sweden/Norway, make sure you use your Parking Heater enough so that it doesn't contain any diesel obtained outside those countries or it could freeze in their winter temperatures. All diesel there is specially formulated for their winter use.
