Using Vango Driveaway kit - advice needed

Hi All,
We have recently bought a Vango Cruz driveaway awning. The shop supplied a driveaway kit (6mm-6mm) that is 4m long. (4 x 1m hard plastic strips to attach to awning, and 1 flexible strip 4m long to attach to our california se)
My question is should I cut the kit to length?
The awning on the van is approx 2.6m so should I cut the the kit to 2.6? or should I just cut one side of the flexible strip to 2.6m so it leaves the other side flexible (and use 3 x 1m hard plastic strips)?

Thought it was best to ask before I make a schoolboy error

We just cut our figure of 8 to the length of the awning, we have not had any problems. Maybe someone else will know if this is correct or not

Did you cut one of the hard plastic strips to the same length so it all matched?, ie 1m + 1m + 0.6m
