VW California Servicing/Warranty Repairs - Oxfordshire

Does anyone have a recommendation? The new Ridgeway VW location near Didcot is most convenient for me, but I have no clue how good they might be. Many thanks.

I'm not sure they're a california centre and most people seem to recommend going to someone who knows what they're doing rather than a general VW van centre. We live fairly near to swindon and are thinking of travelling either to Bristol or Hereford and making a day of it to ensure Gino is well looked after

We used to use Ridgeway in Wantage but a couple of years ago now changed to Citygate in Wooburn Green, even though the Wantage dealer was within walking distance. It's a long trip but to date I've always found them helpful and knowledgeable. Wherever you go, I would strongly recommend going to a Lifestyle Centre, as the regular commercial shops know nothing about Calis.

Van centers are OK for standard van stuff & mot but I'd be going to a dealer that knows cali for the cali specific stuff

I hope the new Servicing department at the new Didcot VW Garage is better than it used to be at Wantage....

BLEEDING UNBELIEVABLE - I Found this very nice shiny spanner still attached to the brake disc cylinder on our California in July 2014.
I had just moved & parked the Cali up on full lock & noticed this extra bit of bling protruding behind the front wheel. It was still attached to the bleed nipple on the disc brake cylinder. I had driven the van 1200 miles unaware of this. The Van had a brake fluid change during its last service at (the previous) Wantage Ridgeway Garage - The consequences of it coming off at speed does not bear thinking about. (right next to tyre & drive shaft).. I did have words with the Service manager when I returned the spanner (and a letter) to the garage. .

Citygate Woodburn Green were brilliant when I found a problem with my roof on a Cali with less than 1000 miles on it. I didn't buy it from them, but they got it replaced under warranty, they've also got a bodyshop in Little Chalfont.

Cordwallis at Oakfield trading estate Eynsham were good for me for standard servicing and a fresh water tank sensor. Friendly and helpful.

I would suggest Heritage in Westbury and ask for Graham to work on your pride and joy. I was not that impressed with Bristol's workshop.

I live in south Oxfordshire and used to go all the way to Wooburn Green but the service manager who had been particularly helpful moved on, so I now use Didcot for convenience. They are a van centre but not a Lifestyle centre and they also seem to be mainly car focussed. So no specialised knowledge of anything California. But if you just want standard servicing they’re fine. Can’t really help more than that - sorry. But I too would be interested in any other views.
