Looking for some carpets that are in good condition.. thanks in advance

Might help

Go and buy some rubber backed heavy duty carpet/office tiles in the colour that you want, and stick them down on the original "wooden" floor with double sided sticky tape.

They are lightweight, tightly fitted and waterproof (with joints virtually undetectable), and can be fitted easily using some waxed paper or cardboard to make a template, and then cut out with scissors.
Most of them go down as full tiles anyway...

Took about 3 hours to do the whole van to the back door in the living area, and they are super durable and tightly located. Been in about a year now, and have been perfect throughout.
I also bought some VW rubber matts for the driver/passenger foot wells-then filled the section in-between the seats with tiles too.

They are also thinner than the Brandrup carpets and so the seats slide/move unhindered.
Any spillages, just remove and wash the tile, or replace it.

They look great and cost about £80 for the lot.
Nice thing is that they don't slip, and can be removed at any time with no marks to the original flooring.
As they are not removable in one piece for cleaning (in the way that the Brandrup can be), I also bought a £30 12V hoover...

Just a solution which works for me, and it might be useful to think about.

I did this after returning a set of new 3 rail Brandrup carpets I had purchased.
Didn’t fit my Ocean for some reason.

It’s a new Ocean, and this was not about saving money.
It’s a great fix….

Looks good. However, if it’s not about saving money I’m intrigued as to what made you do this in the first place? I don’t see any benefit over my fitted carpet.

Thanks for all that!! They look great… but i am not very handy and would make a complete mess of that

Ha

Thanks for your intrigue!

This wasn’t in the “first place”, but the second place.

I had ordered a brand new fitted carpet, and it didn’t fit.
These things don’t stretch either, so I couldn’t make it work.

The rail centres were well out of dimension, and when I contacted the seller, he told me it was the second such observation he’d had that week.
I returned them and got a full refund without question.
Added to that, they sent me a 3 rail system-when I had ordered a 2 but the outer rail centres are apparently the same.

What I noted though (notwithstanding the dimension issue), was that the carpet sat quite high-making it difficult to slide the seat.
Also the “fingers” of carpet seemed to rise up, and this created a real trip hazard by the sliding door.

So my dilemma was that I was about to go to Scotland for a week in winter, so wanted something to warm my tootsies.

I recalled I had some spare carpet tiles from my office flooring (which have been down for 20 years), and in grey.
So that was the interim fix.

Having installed them however, I wouldn’t revert to anything else.
They are super durable and tight, with rubber backing for the adhesive tape.
They look great, are thin and functional-and a zero trip hazard.
If the dog is sick on them (should I ever get a dog), it’s simple to replace the affected area.

So when I say not about the cost, these were actually spare tiles which cost me nothing…

I did buy a hoover.
And the tape

The important thing is that they work well, and in fact my initial fix was going to be temporary only.

It’s not a life changing issue however, but something I just thought might be of benefit to someone.

I don’t believe that!

Give it a try

Had the same problem with Brandrup 6 months or so ago, poor fit - gap around the cabinet, rails not correctly spaced or aligned. Much the same as yours. Went back too for a refund, not great for the money paid. Picked up another set though which are much better so perhaps a bad batch around.

Interesting to hear, and thanks for that

I had just put it down to me having a van with unique rail centres….
And it was for a 3 rail system

I won’t be going the fitted route again however, for the other reasons noted.

For me, this works much better.

Personal preference I guess!

Have a look at California-camping.de
Similar stuff to Brandrup but a little bit cheaper
