Water pump and tap

When I open my tap nothing happens- pump is not working. But if I put my mouth around tap when it is opened and blow air the pump starts working and water flows from the tap. Where is the problem ? Tap or pump ?

I’m interested in why you’d think of putting mouth around pump and blow? Surely you’d suck ?

What vehicle have you got? Do you have the shower point at the rear?

My thinking is that the brushes in the electric motor (pump) are not making a good connection so blowing or sucking forces the blades of the pump to move enough to make the connection.

Actually not as odd it appears I blow air into the tap causing the pump to engage - I read about it somewhere on this forum and it worked although cumbersome in a long run
