What to check for in a used VW Kylie rack

I'm collecting a used VW Kylie rack later this week and hope to fix it straight onto the tailgate and go camping.

• What should I check?
• Is it all one piece or are there extra bits that I need to look out for?
• I read I'll need to apply some tape to avoid damaging the tailgate paint, what are you all using for that?
• Is there a fixing procedure or is it obvious?
• Anything else I've missed?

Got some tape from these guys to fit my rack. I'd say it was almost twice as thick as the factory stickers. The only issue you might have is making a decent template, although if you follow the shape of the rack the sticker shape should be obvious enough.

Other than that I guess just check it's not twisted or bent - should be obvious if you offer it up to the van. Good luck!

Sorry, I got 0.5m and that was enough, I think anything less and you'd have to be really frugal with the tape!

Yeah, the clamps that hold the rack aren't all that big so 50cm*100mm was enough.
