Which batteries??

Hi all,


I’ve read a few post on leisure batteries but I haven’t seen the answer to this question;

I need to replace my leisure batteries and at the moment I have 2 of these

Sonnenschein GF12072Y (80ah x 2)

I know many vans have 1 of the Sonnenschein SL135 (120ah) and I was just wondering which would be best?
The batteries in there at the moment have a German Westfalia sticker on so I assume they are the correct batteries for the van.

It’s up to you Dan. Whichever you chose (1 or 2) you’ll need to alter the DIP switches on the rear of the overhead control panel. These are set according to Brand and number). Make sense?

There is a document that explains. I can post a link if you need it.

Make sure you get gel batteries not lead acid.

I think I'll stick to the same batteries as I've removed if there is no benefit to go with the SL135, then I don't have to mess with the control panel.

OK one final question.


This is the original battery replacement. Nearly £400 delivered with 1 year warranty.

Both are 80ah gel batteries. Is there any point in going for the exact replacement, more expensive battery?
